ESN Lisboa: Erasmus Games

What are the Erasmus Games?

The Erasmus Games are a three-phase competition that aims to promote and celebrate the core values of the ESN network, particularly Social Inclusion, Health and well-being, and Environmental Sustainability. Throughout every phase of multisport tournaments (volleyball, football and basketball), international students from all over the world get to play for a spot in the next phase of the competition. This means that each city's winning team has the opportunity to take part in a national tournament and, subsequently, the winning teams of the national tournaments have the opportunity to represent their host country and compete for the trophy in an international tournament. Above all, we aim to create fun and fair-play tournaments that celebrate what an active, joyful and healthy lifestyle could look like during mobility in our diverse community.

Is there anything else I need to know? (FAQ)

We want you to be as prepared as possible to give have your best shot at winning, so here is some additional info that might be important to know ahead of time. If you have any additional questions, feel free to reach out to us via info@esnlibsoa.org, we are here to help!

book icon Rulebook

Here you can find the complete Rulebook with everything you need to know that will apply to the Erasmus Games in every phase. However, we do want to highlight some of the following things to keep in mind for our local round:

  1. Teams must have at least 3 different nationalities
  2. Your team must be mixed, meaning there should be male and female players on field at all times during your games
  3. Each team is allowed a maximum of 2 alternative players. We reccommend one of each gender to ensure nobody needs to play the whole tournament with no breaks

safety icon Keep Safe

The ELGs will have a first aid station to help with situations and small injuries. However our volunteers are not trained professionally to attend to more extreme injuries. ESN Lisboa includes an Insurance for every player and will accompany you to an Hospital if something serious occurs. Above all, we encourage caution and fair-play and to let us know if you have any pre-existing medical conditions ahead of time so we can appropriately prepare for it.

house icon Event Accomodation

There will be gendered lockers rooms available to use during the event. Please note that you should bring your own towel, flipflops and products if you wish to shower there. More importantly, leave the place better than you found it. Please, help us make this event more sustainable and bring your own refilable water bottle to use throughout the tournment! We will have food and drinks available at the event for all participants. Additionally, cheerleaders and participants can buy some food and drinks at a low price to help fund our goal of bringing the winning teams to the national games with fully covered expenses.
